Four Decades - Thousands of Competitions
Millions of Fans - Countless Memories
But only a precious few are truly Spruce Meadows Classics

The year was 1986.  The du Maurier International at the Spruce Meadows 'Masters' had become one of the most prestigious Grand Prix's in the sport of show jumping.  This year's event would take place in temperatures near freezing, but that didn't stop the horses and riders from performing at a world class level.

With the likes of Nick Skelton, Pierre Durrand and the new World Champion Gail Greenough competing, the 1986 du Maurier International was sure to be one for the ages.  In the end it came down to a showdown between Canada's Laura Tidball-Balisky and Great Britain's John Whitaker on his legendary horse Milton.

Relive the event as it was seen in 1986 and see the amazing story unfold.
