Herm Sprenger KK Ultra Bradoon Bits have a three piece mouthpiece with a small, rotated center lozenge that has been anatomically designed to fit perfectly in the horse's mouth. The 14 mm version is the narrowest Herm Sprenger offers.

The design of the KK Ultra bit is the direct result of extensive anatomical research of the horse's mouth. It was discovered that the cavity of the horse's mouth where the bit sits is smaller than originally assumed. The KK Ultra Bit is designed with a shortened link set at a 45 degree angle to adapt to the anatomy of the horse's mouth, thus ensuring that when the reins are pulled, the round link rests fully on the tongue without squeezing it or applying pressure on the palate. This maximizes the tongue's sense of touch as clear instructions are given through the reins.

Sensogan:

Composition: Wilson bit with 70 mm rings and 12 mm cannons made of German Silver (65% copper, 23% zinc, 12% nickel) a relaxing and solid alloy.
Effect: the thin French mouth cannons free the roof of the mouth from any pressure. The twisted cannons and the flat give a great and stronger action. The two free rings are fixed to the cheek pieces and the two cannon rings are attached to the reins.
Tips: the play between the rings helps avoiding fixed points and so split the horses contact points. The thinness of the cannons combined with the twisted aspect and the central flat makes it easier for the horses to respect the bit and for the riders to have more control.

Sweet iron will rust when it comes into contact with (air) humidity; the surface rust tastes sweet and naturally stimulates the saliva production. This will cause the horse to salivate more which in turn encourages better acceptance of the bit. The rusting process (oxidation) changes the blue colour of the TRUST-bit to a brownish-grey.

If a sweet iron bit is not used for a while, an orange-brown rust layer may develop on the mouthpiece. Simply remove this by wiping the bit with a damp cloth.

A Hack-a-bit works by pressure on the nose through a leverage. The pressure on the nose and mouth depends on the length of the sides. A hacka-a-bit can be quite sharp because of the leverage and the pressure on the nose and chin. If a curb chain is used, the hack-a-bit is even sharper.

It is very important that the noseband of the hackamore is placed correctly. The hack-a-bit is not suitable for inexperienced riders or horses.

Fabric Guide: Stainless steel is the most common material for bits. Durable, easy to clean, tasteless and it does not rust. Sweet iron mouthpieces are designed to oxidize to produce a sweet taste which helps with mouthing. Copper ribs and inserts will encourage mouthing but also ensure the horse will not take up too much of a contact, ideal for horses that can take a hold.
