The Morgan Horse is a uniquely American breed developed in New England. Justin Morgan was a teacher and businessman who lived in Vermont. He bought a bay colt born in 1789 called Figure, and in time the prolific bay stallion became the founding sire of what became the Morgan breed.

The Trakehner is a light warmblood breed of horse. They can be any color, with bay, grey, chestnut and black being the most common, though the breed also includes few roan and tobiano pinto horses. Trakehners are athletic and trainable with good endurance.

National Velvet Horse and Book Set

Purchased and ridden by Linda Southern-Heathcott, Dynamite (known in the show ring as Advantage Chrysler) was a feisty, powerful horse who excelled in Derby and Grand Prix competitions—perfect for a season at Spruce Meadows. Owned by Spruce Meadows, he became an integral part of our legacy, showcasing his talent on home soil and beyond.

Dynamite and Linda were part of the Canadian Show Jumping Team at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. In the barn, he displayed a kind and gentle demeanor, but he was all business once Linda was in the saddle. He lived out his days in Linda’s backyard, and when the victory gallop music carried from the Meadows on the Green Ring, you could catch a glimpse of this great bay gelding galloping along in time.
