Secretariat's astonishing 31-length victory in the Belmont Stakes, accomplished after winning the first two racing jewels in the Triple Crown, has yet to be repeated. In the Kentucky Derby, Secretariat set a speed record of 1:59 2/5, and he captured the Preakness Stake with ease. Secretariat was the son of Bold Ruler out of Somethingroyal.

Known as "Big Red", the large, beautifully-conformed chestnut ran in the blue and white checkered colors of Meadow Stables. He made it on two "Athletes of the Century" lists for his accomplishments and brought fame to those who surrounded him including trainer Lucien Lauren, jockey Ron Turcotte, and the Chenery family who owned him. • Inno Sense Flexi Soft bits are made of a very flexible elastic plastic with a flexible metal core in the bit.
• The flexibility makes this a friendly bit, suitable for sensitive horse mouths and less suitable for very strong horses.
• The plastic of the Inno Sense bits is non-toxic.

2.5 Ring Bit:

• A 2.5 can be recognized by the extra rings on top and at the bottom of the regular bit rings.
• The top ring is used to attach the cheekpiece and the bottom ring the rein.
• When using the rein, the top ring will tilt forward and create leverage.
• The strength of the impact is determined by the type of mouthpiece, material and number of rings.

Straight mouthpiece features:

• A straight mouthpiece consists of 1 piece and gives pressure on the tongue, bars and lips.
• The shape and thickness of the mouthpiece determine where the pressure will be in the mouth.
• A straight mouthpiece with a tongue port gives more pressure on the bars and keeps the tongue free.
• The straighter and thicker the mouthpiece, the more pressure on the tongue.

The shape of the mouthpiece allows a horse to close its mouth properly, which can encourage relaxation through the mouth and head of the horse.
A Poponcini bit is formed in Italy by a metal wire, covered with plastic, and a brass bush at the ends. A non-toxic, anti-allergic silicone layer is poured over this.
